Chevy MyLink

While we were busy covering the Detroit Auto Show, Chevrolet was busy announcing plans to include its MyLink infotainment system in the Sonic RS and Spark city car at CES. MyLink will be represented by a seven-inch color touch screen (produced by LG Electronics) on both vehicles and offer bluetooth phone, bluetooth audio (A2DP), and USB integration for smartphones and personal media players.

The touchscreens will present options for audio, pictures and movies, telephone, smartphone link, and settings. To place a call, users will be able to select a name from the stored directory on the screen; unlike other implementations of MyLink, the version in the Sonic RS and Spark will not include voice recognition (or Gracenote capability).

According to the press release, a “dedicated plug-in outlet for certain personal music devices and smartphones that do not use USB or Bluetooth connections” will be offered. We’re not quite sure what that means just yet.

MyLink will be standard equipment on the 1LT and 2LT trim levels of the Spark, which goes on sale this summer. Only the RS variant of the Sonic will include the system.
